Kura are of varying size and are geographically located across the North Island of New Zealand. The team functions on a trust model which is based on team members producing high quality outcomes in a timely way, working from home in their respective regions. NKAI is actively growing its membership to include several new schools each year. The purpose of the Kaikōtuitui – Collaboration & Technology Specialist is to design, build, and implement an online collaborative learning environment, in which members have positive user experiences. Designing and delivering a digital learning experience for members that is highly positive and enhances their digital fluency. Working through the discovery, design and ultimately a delivery phase, you will first seek to understand current state, including existing technology tools and solutions, identifying any gaps and initial areas for enhancement. Clearly understanding the NKAI vision for an online collaboration space you will move to mid-term planning and design of concept, leading to the creation of a testing environment and measurement criteria in readiness for initial user pilot testing. The overarching driver is to develop and grow an online collaboration environment (NKAI Mahi Tahi Hub) that is user friendly and kaupapa Māori driven. The role is very much one of a key technology enabler to support and grow the capability of NKAI members to utilise the existing NKAI technology solutions for the purposes of working together. Choosing technology, which is both current and future focussed, you will ultimately deliver professional development through online facilitated workshops via different mechanisms such as Microsoft 365, G-Suite and Zoom. Tailoring workshops to the participant audience skill level, you will be accountable for designing and preparing workshop content, tools, and resources, whilst promoting and maintaining an organised schedule of technology workshops that respond to the evolving needs and requirements of members. Technical knowledge, experience and skills required will include;
Working collaboratively and remotely with a group of people, to achieve project goals, you will offer a demonstrated flexibility and willingness to assist others, whilst staying on track and delivering to milestones. The Kaikōtuitui will provide internal technical support to the NKAI staff (6 at this stage). An appreciation for Māori Medium education, indigenous education, iwi education and mana motuhake for all Māori is an advantage but not a necessity. A basic understanding of Māori values with a willingness to grow and learn within this medium is a given. The position offers the opportunity for those with an established technical skill set to work on a remote basis from a home location, ideally based in the North Island.
